McDonald's Big Mac

McDonald's Big Mac is one of the biggest staples around the world.  2  all-beef patties on a seed bun, lettuce, special sauce, onion, pickle, cheese, and another bun.  All of this for $3.50.  I was surprised to see such small patties on the BIG MAC.  I am not sure why this is priced so high.  The McDouble has 2 patties, cheese, onions, ketchup, and pickles.  The lettuce nor the sesame seed bun, or the extra bun are worth paying and extra $2.50 for.  I give the Big Mac a DON'T BUY.

McDonald's NEW Mango Pineapple Smoothie

The Mango Pineapple Smoothie was such of a delight.  Very refreshing, especially on a warm summer day.  Made with real fruit, yogurt, and ice.  The mango was sweet and blended well with the pineapple, which I got in the after taste.  The pineapple has a dulling taste, but not in a bad way.  This was a little pricey, at $2.89 for a medium, but very delicious.  I give this a BUY.

McDonald's Chicken McWrap

McDonald's New Chicken McWraps are huge. They dwarfed a dollar bill by their size.  I was very glad to see this because this was $4.  I got the Bacon and Chicken wrap.  There is also a Chili, and Ranch wrap.  All come in a choice of grilled or crispy chicken.  This comes with a lot of chicken, crispy bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, cheddar jack cheese, and creamy garlic sauce wrapped up in a tortilla.  This was a great meal.  The chicken was well cooked and tasted fresh.  The lettuce and bacon were very crisp.  I give this a BUY.

Boston Market's Beef Brisket Meal with Mac and Cheese and Mashed Potatoes

Boston Market's Individual Beef Brisket Meal comes with 2 sides, 1 cornbread, and a good amount of meat.  The beef was very flavorful, a little bit more chewy than I like, but good.  They use spiral macaroni, which gets a lot of cheese on them and its really good.  I was surprised by how tasty the mashed potatoes were.  I thought they'd be very fine and able to eat them with a straw, but they were chunky and the gravy was excellent.  The cornbread was served warm, was soft.  Was a little bit too sweet, but great with the meal.  All of this was for $10.  This is a great deal for the quality of the food and the amount.  This is an easy BUY.

Newman's Own Supreme Fozen Pizza

I cooked this one a little bit too long, but the Pizza was still good.  Loaded with pepperoni, sausage, red peppers, green peppers, yellow peppers, garlic, and cheese.  This pizza cost $7.50 and a BUY.

TGI Friday's Honey BBQ Boneless Chicken Bites

TGI Friday's frozen Honey BBQ Chicken Bites were surprisingly good.  These where full of chicken meat.   Comes with about 30 chicken bites and can easily serve 3 people.  Comes with a sauce packet that needs to be thawed out and added to the chicken.  These were not crunchy at all, but soft and meaty.  Had just a minimum amount of breading on these.  I give these a BUY.

Hormel's Meat Loaf with Tomato Sauce

Hormel Meat Loaf with Tomato Sauce was great.  Very easy to cook, just a couple minutes in the microwave.  The meat loaf was a mix of beef and pork, and just the right tenderness.  I would add some ketchup for my taste, and take the meat loaf out of the package so it does not soak up so much of the sauce.  This was$7.50 and is a BUY.

Mott's Fruit and Vegtable Snack

These were really good and tasty.  Only 80 calories per package.  I like that the candies are shaped like the flavor they taste like.  The whole box cost just $3 and comes with 10 packages inside.  This is a BUY.

Campbell's Spicy Chorizo Soup

Campbell's Spicy Chorizo comes with spicy sausage bits, pulled chicken, corn, beans and chili peppers.  This had a little bit too much liquid and not enough of the solid food.   I did not think this would be as spicy as it was.  The spice made my nose run.   Would be great to throw in some tortilla chips in this soup.  This cost $3 and is a BUY.

Hormel Sweedish Meatballs in Creamy Sauce

Hormel's Compleats Swedish Meatballs and Pasta comes in their creamy pasta sauce.  The meatballs were meaty and tasty.  The pasta was a little soggy tasting and mixed with the cream sauce gave it a strange flavor.  I got a strange aftertaste from this as well.  Even though this was only $3 and came with a good amount of food, I give this a DON'T BUY.

Wendy's Chicken BLT Cobb Salad

Wendy's BLT Cobb Salad comes with 2 strips of bacon, chopped up tomatoes, chopped hard boiled egg, blue cheese crumbles, a breast of chicken already cut into pieces and a plentiful mix of greens below.  This was only $6, and was very good and filling.  Makes me wish that some sit down restaurants had salads this good and well priced.  Served with Avocado Ranch Dressing.  This is a BUY.  For an added bonus order a small chili and put a few spoonfuls on this salad.

Bob Evans Macaroni and Cheese

Bob Evans Macaroni and Cheese is made with real Cheddar Cheese and serves 2.  These pre-cooked meals are getting better and better.  The cheese was really good.  Not too strong and not too watery.  The pasta was firm, but not too hard.  The cost was a little less than $4.  This is really good and a BUY.

Wendy's NEW Grilled Chicken Flat Bread

Wendy's NEW Flat Bread Grilled Chicken with Honey Mustard was disappointing.  Comes with lettuce, tomatoes, sauce, and chicken on toasted multi-grain flax seed bread.  I did not enjoy the grained bread.  The chicken was great, but only had three pieces.  This cost $3.50.  Comparing this sandwich to the value options, I'd prefer the cheaper ones.  The Flat Bread is a DON'T BUY.

Taco Bell's Cheesy Godita Crunch

Taco Bell's Cheesy Gordita Crunch is the best of both worlds.  Has the crunch of a hard taco, and the softness of a tortilla.  A soft taco with three cheese blend on the outside. A hard taco with ground beef, zesty pepper jack sauce, lettuce, and cheese on the inside.  This gordita cost $2.29.  And is a BUY.  I would add some fire sauce to this to give to more flavor.

Saranac White IPA

Taco Bell's Chocolate Chip Cookie Sandwich

I try Taco Bell's Cookie Sandwich.  This is two chocolate chip cookies with vanilla cream filling in the middle.  This was served at room temperature.  And it only cost $1.29.  This reminded me of those cookie cakes.  The cookies were not great but were not bad either.  The icing is was made this a good treat.  Went well with the cookies.  I give this a BUY.

KFC's 3 Extra Crispy Strips and Biscuit

KFC's three extra crispy strips meal was very good.  Cost was $6 for 3 chicken strips, a biscuit, one side ( I got macaroni and cheese), and a large drink.  The chick was crispy and meaty.  Had a little bit of peppery flavor to it also.  The biscuit was buttery and soft.  The macaroni was very cheesy, not over cooked at all.  All of this plus a 32 oz drink. This was a great meal and a good BUY.

Pei Wei's Pork Egg Rolls

These Pork Egg Rolls from Pei Wei are a great treat to add on to a meal.  They are  just under $2 per roll, comes loaded up with cabbage, carrots, chunks of pork, black mushrooms and scallions wrapped up in their crispy egg roll.  The pork was abundant and tasted great in the mix  The roll was crispy and fried perfectly.  This was very tasty and filling.  They were a bit greasier than I was expecting.  I wish it was a cheaper but as long as they are under $2 these are still a BUY.

KFC's Chicken Pot Pie

The Chicken Pot Pie from Kentucky Fried Chicken is very good.  I was thinking that this would be a lot smaller.  Was about 6 inches in diameter.  The crust was crispy and great tasting, even overflowing from the aluminum pan it was sitting in.   Comes baked with chicken, carrots, sweet peas and potatoes mixed with their creamy sauce.  The chicken was very meaty and mixed well with the vegetables.  At $4 for the pie, this is a BUY.

Month Recap: March 2013 Review all the Food and Beer

I do a recap of all of the food and beer that I uploaded in the month of March.  I only got to nine beers, and hopefully I will get to more in the month of April.  I did get to 44 food items.  Some items did not make the list.  The food winner of the month is Hormel Beef Roast with Au Jus, a prepared meal that needs to be microwaved.  The meat was so tender and flavorful.  I highly recommend it.  The beer winner was Samuel Adams Maple Pecan Porter.  That was very good and the sweetness to it was great.  The worst item of the month was Jell-O German Chocolate Cake Pudding Mix.  That was just awful.  Came with dried coconuts and pecans to mix in with the pudding.  I did not finish it and threw it away.  Let me know if there's something that you'd like for me to try for next month.

Pei Wei Gringer Brocoli with Beef and Fried Rice

Pei Wei's Ginger Broccoli and Beef with Fried Rice is a big meal.  Comes with a lot of chopped beef that was crunchy.  The broccoli tasted well with the ginger sauce and mixed well with the fried rice.  The fried rice was very good.  That was the best part of the whole meal.   Comes mixed with carrots, mushrooms, and scallions.  This is a BUY.

Jersey Mike's #7 Turkey and Provalone Sub

Jersey Mike's Giant #7, comes with Turkey and provolone cheese and your choice of bread and toppings.  Only complaint is the price; cost me $12 for this sub  I got this on their white bread, with lettuce, mayo, brown mustard, oil and vinegar.  I like that the turkey and cheese are sliced fresh when ordered vs already cut like other places.  Got a large amount of turkey.  The bread was very good, crispy yet soft.   This is great meal and filling.  I usually eat 3 pieces and save the other one for later in the day for a great snack.. A definite BUY.

Hormel Turkey and Gravy

Hormel Turkey and Gravy was a good item, but not great.  The turkey was all meat, no fat.  Tasted very well with the gravy.  The turkey was not as tender as I like. There was a lot of gravy.  The gravy was just okay tasting.  Needed some mashed potatoes to mix this with.  I am a little suspicious of the perfectly round turkey slices.  The box says that this is 15 oz, and I am guessing its only 9 oz of turkey.  The price was the deal breaker on this.  At $7.50, I could of gotten a whole chicken that was already cooked and seasoned that had more meat for less.  I give this a DON'T BUY.
